Practical guides & FAQ
Simple workflows for better subtitles, consistent product photos and print-ready artwork.
Check subtitles without changing the script
- Export UTF-8 SRT or WebVTT from your subtitle editor. Select up to 20 files.
- Start with 42 characters per line and 20 non-whitespace characters per second; use the delivery specification to set your actual limits.
- Run the check and download the complete JSON report. Cue numbers refer to parsed cue order, not custom cue IDs.
- Fix timing errors first, then split long lines and extend short cues in your editor. Export and run the check again.
Overlaps can be intentional for different speakers. Review them in context. Markup is stripped for readability checks; this is a practical lint tool, not a complete WebVTT specification validator. NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks are ignored.
Make a consistent image batch
Use Fit inside for images bounded by a maximum width and height. Use Pad to canvas for a uniform final rectangle. The tool preserves aspect ratio and never enlarges the original artwork. Choose a background color for JPEG, which does not support transparency; padding for PNG/WebP can stay transparent.
Try WebP or JPEG at quality 0.8, inspect the output at full size, then adjust. PNG is lossless; its quality slider has no effect and it can be larger. Browser exports may remove metadata and color profiles. Check color-sensitive artwork separately. Animated files export a still frame.
Calculate print size from pixels
Effective PPI equals pixels divided by the corresponding print dimension in inches. A 3000 × 3600 image at 10 × 12 inches has 300 PPI on both axes. The same image at 20 × 24 inches has 150 PPI. Centimeters are converted with 2.54 cm per inch.
The check uses the entire canvas. Transparent borders reduce the visible artwork size. Each non-zero alpha pixel contributes to the artwork bounds. Semi-transparent pixels can affect printing on dark garments; inspect anti-aliased edges with your printer. An entirely transparent image has no visible artwork.
This check does not verify bleed, licenses, color separation, ICC profiles or vendor requirements. It does not upscale files or guarantee platform or print acceptance.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. File reading, image processing and report generation happen in this browser. Closing the tab discards the batch. Clear removes the current selection and results.
What are the limits?
20 files per batch, 20 MB per file, 80 MB combined, and 24 million decoded pixels per image. Output canvases also have a 24 million pixel limit and 10,000 pixels per dimension. Work in smaller batches on phones.
What if a file fails?
The result shows the filename and reason; other files continue. Correct the file or settings and run again. Changing settings requires processing again. Downloaded reports include failures.
Does this fix or certify my files?
Subtitle and print tools report checks; edit the source in your editor. Image Studio produces new image files. Keep your originals. No transcription, AI upscaling or platform certification is provided.
